Our Story

It all started with a flood…

In 2021, record‑breaking rainfall overwhelmed St James’s Park — and our restoration of the Grade II‑listed Westminster Fire Station.

As you read this, you’ll begin to see why acting before 2030 gives you control.

The damage revealed a clear gap: no single point of accountability was coordinating retrofit for period homeowners. You don’t need to imagine starting from scratch — we’ve solved that for you.

We rebuilt that fire station with greater resilience. Then we built a company to do the same for you.

What We Discovered

Why 2030 matters to your home's value.

The government's Warm Homes Plan, published January 2026 and backed by up to £15 billion, sets an unambiguous deadline: by 1 October 2030, all privately rented homes in England and Wales must achieve at least EPC Band C.

Three things every London homeowner should understand:

  • The historic exemption for listed buildings is being removed.

  • Local authorities may issue penalties of up to £30,000 per breach in the rental sector.

  • The single EPC headline rating is being replaced with four new metrics: fabric performance, heating system, smart readiness, and energy cost.

Energy performance is now a core component of long-term asset value. Acting early gives you control over your timeline, better access to funding, and first choice of the best contractors — before demand rises.

London is home to some of the most characterful housing stock in the world. It is also among the least energy efficient.

According to ONS data and analysis of 1.3 million domestic EPCs, 1.94 million London homes — more than half the capital's housing stock — are currently rated EPC D or below. Among them, over 950,000 are pre-1919 Victorian and Edwardian properties that define London's character — and quietly cost their owners money every winter.

According to theEnglish Housing Survey 2021-22, homes built before 1919 face £428 more per year on energy bills when not improved to EPC C.

These homes need a different kind of thinking. That is what Alchemi Renovations was built to provide.

The Real Barrier: Coordination

The greatest barrier isn't always cost — it's coordination.

Retrofit and renovation can feel like a maze of consultants, reports, and technical language, with no single person taking ownership of the outcome.

We knew there had to be a better way: one that made the entire process clear, accountable, and built around you.

A Future-Focused Approach
