With over 25 years of combined experience delivering award-winning residential developments across central London, we’ve earned a reputation for thoughtful design, meticulous planning, and exceptional results.
Longtime collaborators and property professionals Laura Marino and Charlie Baxter first partnered to establish Alchemi Group—a multi-award-winning, design-led development management company known for delivering high-quality residential projects in prime central London.
In response to growing client demand following the success of their developments, Laura launched Studio L London, a dedicated interior design studio focused on curated, sustainable living environments. Meanwhile, their longtime friend and occasional project partner, Jonathan Moffat, was leading his own boutique firm, Cavendish Moffat, specialising in high-value, design-led residential development.
Despite their distinct paths, their shared commitment to meaningful, sustainable transformation in the property sector brought them back together to form Alchemi Renovations—a future-focused consultancy delivering intelligent retrofit, renovation, and high-end project management across London.
FOUNDERS
-
Co-founder / Managing Director
Charlie Baxter brings more than four decades of experience across the full lifecycle of property development and delivery. Beginning his career at Barratt Homes, he went on to co-found the multi-award-winning Alchemi Group, overseeing the design-led transformation of some of central London’s most notable residential conversions.
Charlie has built a track record in complex planning, construction, and heritage refurbishment, combining financial acumen with operational expertise. He’s known for his ability to align developer needs with long-term value, and to lead teams that deliver on time, on budget, and beyond standard market expectations.
In recent years, his focus has shifted to the future: how to retrofit and futureproof London’s ageing housing stock in a way that preserves character, enhances comfort, and meets fast-evolving regulatory requirements. His leadership on the Westminster Fire Station project—in the wake of the 2021 London floods—further strengthened his commitment to resilient, low-carbon building solutions.
Today, Charlie leads the strategic and delivery operations at Marino | Baxter, and collaborates with Westminster City Council’s retrofit task force, contributing to training and homeowner engagement strategies that support the borough’s sustainability goals.
